Dr. Alecia Hardy has literally been around dentistry her entire life. She was born the same year her father began practicing as a general dentist in her rural hometown of Louisburg, North Carolina. Upon completing her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (with honors) in 2007 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she joined the long-standing practice to create a father/daughter dental team.
Patients who leave Dr. Alecia’s chair are literally amazed by her ability to perform pain-free procedures and often compliment her chair-side manner. True to her nature, Dr. Alecia makes sure every procedure is precise and every patient is pleased. Even patients who once feared the dentist, leave admiring Dr. Alecia!
While perfecting her style, Dr. Alecia is establishing a rapport of her very own. Each week, her schedule is filled with patients of all ages and backgrounds who need everything from a filling, to a set of dentures, to a surgical extraction, to a smile makeover. On Fridays, she works restoring the teeth of inmates at the Wake County Correctional Facility in Raleigh.
Originally, Dr. Alecia had intentions of becoming a heart surgeon. Following high school, she enrolled at WakeForestUniversity where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Biology in preparation for medical school. It was during an intensive Medical Education Development Program that she elected to pursue dentistry as a career instead and earned numerous merit scholarships.
Her training included rotations at public health departments and hospitals alike. Her intense study of the Spanish language also offered Dr. Alecia an opportunity to participate in a dental school outreach program at an orphanage in Mexico during 2004. Her fluency in Spanish has also been advantageous for reaching the large Hispanic community surrounding the Louisburg location.
Above all, Dr. Alecia strives to engage each patient one-on-one and reassure them that good oral health habits can make a difference in their overall well being.
