Our hygienists have many years of experience and are committed to providing optimum dental care and health. They educate our patients on what is good dental health and are constantly looking for ways to bring our patients into a joint cooperative treatment plan to make oral health a key component to their physical health.
Dana B. – Dental Hygienist
I graduated from Halifax Community College in May 2007 with an associate degree in dental hygiene. I have been with Hardy Smiles since November of 2007. Our staff is very trustworthy, and the friendships I have built here make my coworkers feel like family. The best patients around come to my chair and I really care for them! My goal is to make my patients as comfortable as possible when they are in my chair because most of the time they would rather be anywhere else! I enjoy getting to know each patient and listening to them tell me about their lives and/or their needs.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have been married to my husband, Chase, for eight years and we have a 4-year-old boy named Blake. I love being around kids – their enjoyment in life is very contagious. We enjoy going to the beach, although we don’t get to go as often as we’d like, but it’s a nice getaway when we can. I am also very active with my church in the children’s ministry.
Arwen F. – Dental Hygienist
I began my journey in dentistry in the Navy. I had always thought about being in the health care field with dreams of being a veterinarian as a child. When I was offered the Dental Technician job while in boot camp, I happily accepted thinking, “this could be interesting, and it’s health-care related.” After eight years in the Navy (four of which I got to live in Hawaii!), I made the decision to transition to civilian life and stay home for a few years with my young children. Missing the joy I received from interacting with and caring for patients, I decided to further my dental education and went to dental hygiene school at Allegany College of Maryland. I graduated magna cum laude with an AAS degree in dental hygiene in the spring of 2007.
After moving to North Carolina in August 2014, it took me a few short months to find my new dental home here at Hardy Smiles. I have been here about a year and a half now and I love it! There is great camaraderie between the staff, and the patients are all very welcoming and kind. It’s comforting to find a home away from home in your workplace!
During my off time, I enjoy reading, playing World of Warcraft, and spending quality time with my family. I have three children and two cats. I enjoy watching sports; my favorite is baseball, and I root for my SF Giants, 49ers, and Golden State Warriors. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay area. During college basketball, my fiancé requires me to watch the Kentucky Wildcats, so I think he has me converted to a fan. (Sorry UNC, Duke, and NC State fans.)
I make it my priority to give my patients the best care I possibly can, always taking the time to provide thorough treatment, whatever your individual hygiene treatment needs may be. I have been able to comfort even the most nervous dental patient with my calm, relaxed demeanor and gentle touch. If you’re already a patient of ours, THANK YOU for your trust, and if you’re not, come and see us! We love meeting new people!
